Mission: A vibrant, sustainable community.

From www.ic.org/directory/paoli-area-community/:

We would like to start a community or ecovillage in this area if others have the same desire. We would like it to be a good one for families and a place to do small-scale natural farming together. We are moderate both on politics and religion so whether you're liberal or conservative you're welcome and if you're in between that might be the best fit.

In this area there are a number of people who have interests in natural farming, ecological living, and similar things. Several of them are in the Paoli Mennonite Fellowship, which my family and I attend; there is also the Lost River Market and Deli, which sells natural foods and is a common gathering place. Across the road from there is a natural healing center. Nearby is a yoga and meditation center just starting--the Old Tomato Factory, and Black Vulture studio is forming there too. Lazy Black Bear is a nearby place that hosts events focused on protecting the forest. Living roots Ecovillage is under ten miles away, and there is a good farmers market in Orleans.

I'm just starting growing fruit and nut trees, and gardens, mushrooms, and maple syrup. It would be fun to work with others expanding these things or even starting a dairy farm and cheesemaking, or a community workshop, canning area, or tool share, or any of many other possibilities.
