Meet the neighbors:

Mission: We envision an eco-village based around the ideas of permaculture, transition towns, non-violent communication, bio-dynamics, unschooling, natural/non-toxic living, child-centered natural/gentle parenting, and voluntary simplicity.

Both Nikki and Scott have an interest in educational philosophy, mentoring, nature connection, and sustainable development. We have discussed starting an educational institute but think that will be a task for once the community is established.

From www.ic.org/directory/earth-care-collaborative/:

My wife and I own 5 acres of land in the Sierra Nevada foothills which has a south-facing slope and irrigation water access. It currently has a yurt and a 30-foot fifth-wheel on it. We plan to add permanent buildings in the future. We also own 1/2 an acre about 50 minutes west of Portland, Oregon, that we would happily share.

So we are currently without a community. We just moved to Marysville from Oregon a few months ago for my wife's first teaching job. We want to live in an eco-village someday. We figured we would put it out there that we are open to the idea of our land being the site for an eco-village. We own the property without a mortgage. It has great potential, but Scott is limited in the amount of work he can accomplish essentially alone since we have two young toddlers that need attention.

If the site is not ideal there is the option to work as a team to improve the value of it so we can sell and get a better site. We are yet to look at the legal structure that would allow for us to do that while remaining in collective ownership.
