WILA Farms

Mission: We are all about the farm. We are all about the garden (about an acre). We have tons of food available usually and like to eat it. People on the farm will be expected to cook, wash dishes, weed that garden, (there will be others to help) and watch animals when we are gone (usually in the Fall, but camping trips sometimes in the Summer). We are openminded. We do not care what your sexual orientation is, what your beliefs are, our round table discussions can be mind-bending, so come prepared for anything to be discussed. We believe in Sustainability and the Earth.

We live off grid, grow 90% of our food, raise goats, chickens and go fishing. We are well established in the community. No drugs, alcohol, or smoking allowed. There is a cabin available. Heat with wood. People applying must love animals and gardening. Work available just down the road with resorts and restaurant. Shared food at meals in the beginning (year). One hour a day of work in exchange for lodging and food for watching farm while we are away and weeding in garden. Share of all the garden produce will go to everyone on the farm. There will be entire parts of the winter you will not have to do much work. Mostly work is expected in Spring through late Fall. So there might be two hours of work occasionally. We are meat eaters, we treat our animals very well and expect that they are treated well and respected for what they give us. We love the woods and are surrounded by about a million square areas of it. The BWCA just sits north of us. Wilderness abounds. About 1/2 mile back from Lake Vermilion. You will be encouraged to raise your own garden.
