Mission: We are activists & homesteaders, striving for self-sufficiency & a working to facilitate a more just world.

From www.ic.org/directory/blackberry/:

For the last 28 years, Blackberry has been a close-knit intentional family committed to living, working, learning, and growing together in the Sierra foothills north of Nevada City, California. We place much value on raising our children and ourselves in a nonviolent, healthy emotional and physical environment. There were only 2 of us living here full-time for a number of years (the children are grown and thriving), but as of December 2015, we have been joined by 2 additional adult members, & have a couple with a baby looking into the prospects of moving here sometime next year.

As an intentional-family style community, we have a collective economic system. Each adult pays a share of food & utility expenses, as well as an additional monthly amount into a maintenance & repair fund. We prepare and eat most dinners together & meet regularly to discuss short & long-term plans & to share the joys of everyday life in our forest home.

Please email us for more details, as there will be changes as our new group grows & matures.
